Find Out MoreFounded KIND in 1975, from the very beginning our ethos has always been to work with disadvantaged and deprived children and their families from across Liverpool and Merseyside, providing activities, opportunities and experiences that show them that that they and life do have more to offer, that they and life can be different.
It’s also about allowing our children the opportunity to create some wonderful, happy and positive memories of their childhood - memories that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

1975
Our first Christmas Appeal and KIND is officially registered as a charity on Christmas Eve
KIND Residentials start in YMCA National Centre, Lakeside at Lake Windermere
KIND takes local children on a trip to Jersey as part of the International Year of the Child
1980We open our first KIND Residential Centre in Scotland at Quarriers, Bridge of Weir
1985
After leaving Quarriers, KIND use Hafoty Wen for our Residentials for the summer of ‘87
Our second KIND Residential Centre opens at Meikle Corsford, Scotland
1990KIND open their new Residential Centre on the Balbeg Estate, Stratton, Scotland

KIND receives The Anniversary Achievement Award from Liverpool John Moores University
KIND begin using the Fields Studies Council Residential Centre in the Lake District
2005KIND have their first Residential at the Red Ridge Centre in Welshpool
The extension to KIND’s Environmental Education Centre opens at our Back Canning Street site
2010
Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall makes her first visit to KIND
Stephen Yip is awarded The Freedom of the City of Liverpool – one of the highest honours the city can grant an individual. Previous recipients include Nelson Mandela, The Beatles, Ken Dodd and Roger McGough
2015
Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall makes her second visit to KIND as part of our 40th Birthday celebrations and officially opens the whole KIND Environmental Centre
In recognition of its work with children since 1975, KIND receives the Freedom of the City of Liverpool
Throughout the lockdown and continuing pandemic, KIND helps local struggling families with food and education packs
After 25 years KIND sell their Back Canning Street Centre and move into their new office on South Hunter Street.
